Product Prototype Designers: Give Our Customer Service a Try

Product photo of flowers in a glass bottle by half and half flowersHere’s an experience we’d like to relate to anyone thinking about ordering custom dry transfers from us for the first time. If you don’t know how easy it is to work with us, Maude Paquette-Boulva can probably tell you. Maude is a graphic designer at a creative agency based in New York City called “214”. Chris Dowling, co-president and creative director of “214”, describes the agency as “using strategic, impactful design to drive brand love across digital and retail channels”. One of their clients, Jennie Wolfe of Half & Half flowers, needed marketing photos for their company’s website launch but her product was still in production. The solution was to create product prototypes. Maude uploaded vector artwork she developed for rubdowns on glass and ordered white dry transfers from Image Transfers.

Take a look at the beautiful photos that transpired just in time for their website launch.

Here’s a little background history on Half & Half Flowers and their founder, Jennie Wolfe:

At the age of 9, I handmade my first bouquet from a raging patch of wild flowers carefully hid on the side of the house in my mother’s competition-ready landscaped yard. I cut and arranged the flowers in my grandmother’s crystal vase and placed them on the dining table with a sweet note to surprise my mom. Unfortunately, my gesture came with a ton of bugs and sent my mom screaming. I learned from that young age that flowers and a thoughtful note have the ability to transform a space and your mind. Bugs, not so much.

Flowers give life to a room until their beauty fades reminding us not to take anything for granted, flowers also teach us that caring and nurturing makes things last longer; two simple lessons important to remember.

Throughout my life I’ve realized kind thoughtful words and reminders help me have the courage to live my truth. And by following my heart and challenging myself Half & Half Flowers was born to be a beautiful reminder to all of us to live life as true to ourselves as we possibly can.

We support and encourage small business startups like Half & Half. From answering questions about “ganging up” artwork to maximize the amount of rub-on transfers that can fit on a page, to tracking shipments, we get great pleasure from helping small business owners like Jennie; as much as we like helping our regular customers like Maude from 214.

Image Transfers are custom dry rub-on transfer specialists. We make only one thing: custom rub down transfers for graphic designers, artists, and model-makers. A dry transfer (or rubdown) is an image printed on a translucent sheet. The image has a coating of adhesive on its back. The image is transferred from the translucent sheet onto another surface by applying light pressure in a rubbing motion. The dry transfer can be applied to any surface that is free of dust, grease or oil. Dry transfers are referred to as DRY because they are applied dry, without the use of water or solvents. A dry transfer is not a slip-off label or a water decal, instead, the transferred image appears as if it was printed directly onto the item. Our dry transfers are opaque because we back the colors with white, so our rubdowns can be applied to a surface of any color without changing the color of the rub-on transfer. We consider dry transfers a semi-permanent application. A top coat of clear lacquer can make them more permanent. Our production artists can match all Pantone Matching System (PMS) colors including Metallic. Standard transfers are semi-gloss but we also offer matte and uncoated finishes. We deliver within as little as 24 hours. -- Specialties: Custom Rub Down Dry Transfers, Art Gallery Signage & Museum Labels, Custom Transfers for Product Prototypes, Comps & Mock-ups, Dry Transfers for Scale Models. Decals for Glass and reversed transfer decals for inside glass cases.

  1. Bonjour,

I am looking for a custom decal that can be applied to some of our gift shop items, mainly some new glass drinking bottles we just got in. Will your product adhere to glass, how long will it remain in tact, and what will happen if the glass gets washed? Also how much would it be for 48 2″x2″ decals?

    Merci

Gregory, Our transfers can certainly be applied to glass (like the visuals here for the flower shop) but we would not recommend them for drinking glasses. These glass vases were prototypes to represent the vases the company would eventually produce. They were created so photos could be done in time for the website launch. The transfers are lacquer ink with lacquer adhesive so they would probably stand up to washing but our product is not recommended for any items used for food consumption. You might want to check into pad printing. Although not as clean as a transfer I believe it is a permanent solution used for the type of project you are detailing. Thanks for getting in touch!

I have an old sheet of letraset bought in the mid 90’s
I was wondering what type of ink is used in the black letters. Does it have any iron in it. I am thinking of trying it in my ceramic work where it would be fired at about 2000 degrees. If there is iron in the ink, it would set into the glazes.

    • Luann says:

Ada, We are not sure exactly what type of ink or adhesive was used by Letraset. We use lacquer ink with lacquer adhesive if that helps. Also we don’t have any experience in using them w/2000 heat. Best of luck w/this. Hope you have success.

  3. Hello I’m looking for decorative design for my glass candles to include my company name. What type of transfer would you recommend please? Obviously the candle get hot when burning the candle so I’m wondering what you would recommend please.
    Kindest regards
    Michelle

Michelle, We have had clients use our custom dry transfers on glass candles so I don’t believe you will have an issue. Our transfers are lacquer ink with lacquer adhesive. Since adhesive is only on the image area after applied it will look like your text/artwork is printed right on the glass. If you want to be certain we can send you some samples but we ask potential clients to pay the pass along FedEx charge. We no longer send samples snail mail. If you want to move forward you will need to create the artwork on one of our artboard size areas. Depending on how many you want to produce should determine the size you order. Clients usually gang up artwork to fill the artboard. Pricing is published on our website. If you want a Metallic GOLD or a FOIL Gold those prices are broken out separately. Our turnaround is usually 24 to 48 hours. If you have further questions just email us at art@imagetransfers.com or call the studio at (212) 928-7987 M-F. We hope we can work with you on this project. Luann
