Custom Dry Transfer Decals for Microchips & Circuit Boards

We make custom transfers for circuit boardsSometimes our clients have very small prototypes or products that graphics need to be placed on. Sometimes companies want their identification or logo art on a tiny product and have no way to make it happen. This is where Image Transfers can help industrial designers accomplish their goals.

Tyler Maxfield, of White Matter LLC, needed to put their logo art on a small circuit. The logo art was only 7/32” by 3/16.” The type was about 4 points.

We were concerned about the art, and the difficulty our client might have placing and applying such a small piece of art onto a circuit. But here are the photos to prove it could be done, and done well.

Custom transfers for circuit boards with an image of vector art showing the layout of decals ganged up on the same page making each custom dry transfer affordableTyler was able to gang-up/repeat the logo so he had 825 images on our letter-size transfer sheet. He requested we print the dry transfer in Pantone 877 Metallic Silver as custom transfers for his printed circuit boards.

We recommend clients leave a comfortable space between artwork for ease in application but obviously Tyler and his team had no issues with this placement. Maybe the burnisher we supply with each transfer order helped as well.

Final prototypes like these can be used for company websites, marketing material, and maybe even company board meetings to visually describe the next product line.

Here is a little information about our client: White Matter makes the world’s smallest neural recording system. Scientists all over the world are studying how the brain functions, and in many cases, this requires recording the electrical activity of neurons.  white matter is an electronics company that makes nano circuit boards, they use our custom dry transfers as decals for their microchips. In the past, this was done by dropping a few big wires into a brain and taking measurements using a big recording system. By taking advantage of modern electronics, we have developed a recording system that is 10 times better than traditional systems. 10 times smaller, 10 times more neurons, and 10 times more brains being recorded from at once.

“We needed a way to brand our tiny microchips, and Luann at Image Transfers was an absolute delight to work with. Other printers saw how small we were trying to print and immediately rejected our design. Luann was speedy in her responses and provided loads of help teaching me how to use Adobe Illustrator. Great company, fast turn around time, and unparalleled printing capabilities.”

Thank you, Tyler for your kind words.

a custom rub down decal for electronic circuit boards and electronicsBesides being used on recording electrical activity products we also have industrial design clients that use our dry transfers in their refurbishing process of electronic parts. If a company logo is worn and unreadable – a transfer, on the reconditioned part, will make the part look as new as the components. We have produced transfers of many brand-name logos. All that is needed is clean vector artwork. If clients need help with artwork, we can do that too.

Image Transfers are custom dry rub-on transfer specialists. We make only one thing: custom rub down transfers for graphic designers, artists, and model-makers. A dry transfer (or rubdown) is an image printed on a translucent sheet. The image has a coating of adhesive on its back. The image is transferred from the translucent sheet onto another surface by applying light pressure in a rubbing motion. The dry transfer can be applied to any surface that is free of dust, grease or oil. Dry transfers are referred to as DRY because they are applied dry, without the use of water or solvents. A dry transfer is not a slip-off label or a water decal, instead, the transferred image appears as if it was printed directly onto the item. Our dry transfers are opaque because we back the colors with white, so our rubdowns can be applied to a surface of any color without changing the color of the rub-on transfer. We consider dry transfers a semi-permanent application. A top coat of clear lacquer can make them more permanent. Our production artists can match all Pantone Matching System (PMS) colors including Metallic. Standard transfers are semi-gloss but we also offer matte and uncoated finishes. We deliver within as little as 24 hours. -- Specialties: Custom Rub Down Dry Transfers, Art Gallery Signage & Museum Labels, Custom Transfers for Product Prototypes, Comps & Mock-ups, Dry Transfers for Scale Models. Decals for Glass and reversed transfer decals for inside glass cases.

David, Best file format is Adobe Illustrator file. We need vector artwork to create the best dry transfers for you. As for colors; we can do an infinite palette but mostly match to the Pantone Graphic Palette. If you have a specific color, you can send it in and we can match to it for an additional charge. If you have further questions just call the studio at (212) 928-7987. We hope we can work on this project with you.
