Custom Dry Transfer Decals for Furniture

Most of our clients are Industrial Designers since our dry transfers are ideal for creating realistic-looking prototypes and mock-ups. But recently several customers have been ordering rubdown transfers for their custom furniture design projects and photoshoots. Dry transfers on wood can easily be made permanent by adding an extra coat of clear lacquer, applied after the transfer has been rubbed down.

Adding a saying or monogram to your favorite chair or table is simple, and our custom transfers can save you a lot of time and effort.

We just finished creating custom dry transfer decals for Dawn at http://IridianGroup.com. Please take a moment and read about her company and project: “We are a graphic design company, and the chair was a project for a client of ours— an interior design company. They had a customer bring in an old rocking chair that was refinished and reupholstered. The chair had belonged to the customer’s grandmother who had passed away, and she requested to have around 33 sayings that grandma was known for somehow incorporated into the chair. After a failed attempt to have an artist handwrite all the sayings onto the chair, our client approached us to come up with a solution creative for them.”

“We measured the chair and designed all 33 sayings to fit, then had Image Transfers produce them. It worked perfectly! They plan to seal the chair to make the custom transfers permanent, and their customer was thrilled.”

Thanks again for a great product! We hope to be able to work with you again in the future.

Image Transfers are custom dry rub-on transfer specialists. We make only one thing: custom rub down transfers for graphic designers, artists, and model-makers. A dry transfer (or rubdown) is an image printed on a translucent sheet. The image has a coating of adhesive on its back. The image is transferred from the translucent sheet onto another surface by applying light pressure in a rubbing motion. The dry transfer can be applied to any surface that is free of dust, grease or oil. Dry transfers are referred to as DRY because they are applied dry, without the use of water or solvents. A dry transfer is not a slip-off label or a water decal, instead, the transferred image appears as if it was printed directly onto the item. Our dry transfers are opaque because we back the colors with white, so our rubdowns can be applied to a surface of any color without changing the color of the rub-on transfer. We consider dry transfers a semi-permanent application. A top coat of clear lacquer can make them more permanent. Our production artists can match all Pantone Matching System (PMS) colors including Metallic. Standard transfers are semi-gloss but we also offer matte and uncoated finishes. We deliver within as little as 24 hours. -- Specialties: Custom Rub Down Dry Transfers, Art Gallery Signage & Museum Labels, Custom Transfers for Product Prototypes, Comps & Mock-ups, Dry Transfers for Scale Models. Decals for Glass and reversed transfer decals for inside glass cases.

Building a custom guitar and looking for a way to make it unique. It’s an Irish tribute to my mom. Happy St Patrick’s by the way

    • Keith, Sorry about the delay in responding to your comment. Hope you had a wonderful St Patrick’s Day holiday. A custom guitar would be a lovely gift. We have done transfers for a number of clients building custom guitars. After applying the transfer you would just need to protect it from scratching by coating with clear lacquer. View our other post about Lawton Audio. They also apply transfers to wood. Email us at art@imagetransfers.net to discuss your project in detail. Hope we can work on this with you. Luann

I would like a decal for a rocking chair that says “you were only waiting for this moment to arise”

    • Luann says:

Ann, Would love to help you with this. Pricing is published right on our website with a letter size 1/color being $175.00. If you need help creating or setting this copy we can do that too for a nominal charge. Depending on how large you want the saying you might be able to stack the copy and just cut it out and place separately. A clear coat of lacquer will make the transfer permanent. Email us or call the studio if you have any further questions or issues. Hope we can work on this project with you.

I am a brewery owner and long time wood worker. We are moving into a redesign of our tap handles, I am looking for a decals to place on the handles. Two would be our logo and two would be our company name. We would be looking at several hundred of each. Can you do logos? Tap handles get physically handled, would your decals hold up with or with out a top coating of varnish or urethane.

I have other question but just need to start with these.

    • Luann says:

John, Thanks for your inquiry. We can certainly do custom dry transfers that you can apply to tap handles. Yes they will need to be sprayed with a clear lacquer spray to be used as a permanent solution. We would need vector artwork and if you are looking for a quantity run we would recommend ganging up as many as will fit comfortably on our tabloid size sheet. Pricing is published on our website and goes by artboard size area. We match to the Pantone Graphic palette, and can do Metallics and FOILS. Reply, email us at art@imagetransfers.com or call the studio at (212) 928-7987 to discuss further. We hope we can work on this project with you.
